Understanding Apps

Updated October 28, 2026

An App is one product of your company that Contacts ask for help with, such as Kibo Market. Its website and mobile apps are platforms of the same App: they share its key, and each person keeps one conversation in it. Each App has:

  • its inbox, Contacts and stats;
  • the look of its chat;
  • its Domain, its iOS and Android apps, and its install code;
  • its opening hours, welcome message and away message;
  • its saved replies and tags;
  • its key and webhook.

Create an App

  1. In the sidebar, under Apps, click “Add”. With no App yet, the button reads “New App”.
  2. If you already have an App, choose “A new App”. For the same product on another platform, choose “Add a platform” instead, then the App in the list: its Getting started opens on choosing the platform.
  3. Give it the product’s name, 2 characters at least. It shows in the App switcher and at the top of the chat. A name such as “Kibo Market iOS” beside “Kibo Market” offers to add a platform instead.
  4. Click “Create App”. Its settings open on Developers > Getting started: choose your platform, click “Next step”, then follow its steps.

Add a platform

Open App settings > Developers > Getting started, which lists the App’s platforms, and click “Add a platform”. You can also click “Add” in the sidebar, then “Add a platform”. “Choose your platform” shows one card per platform: website, React Native, then Android, iOS and Flutter, coming soon. Those the App already has are greyed out. Click yours, then “Next step”: it is added, in Development Mode, and its steps show. Do not create an App for a platform: the same person would then have two conversations.

How many Apps

The Starter Plan allows 1 App, Small business 3 and SME 10. Past the Plan’s limit, the newest Apps are paused: their chat is unavailable and nothing is deleted. Only Admins and the Owner create Apps. At the limit, “A new App” offers the next Plan: pay for it there, then name your App.

In the sidebar, the number next to each App shows how many of its conversations have messages you have not read.

To open App settings, click Settings in the sidebar, or the gear next to the title of its Inbox.

One App matches one domain, one iOS Bundle ID and one Android package name: the chat shows nowhere else. For another website, create another App, with its own Inbox.
