What does the verified badge mean?
Updated October 20, 2026
The Verified badge means your App gave its user ID for this Contact: their conversation follows them on each of their devices. The badge shows in the Contact panel and on their profile. In the inbox, at the top of the conversation and in the Contacts list, a check badge icon stands for it.
What verification brings
- The person’s name, email, phone and ID come from your App, sent from a device that joined the Contact.
- The person finds the same conversation on each of their devices: the first one at once, the next ones with the code sent to their email.
- Messages written on the device before signing in join their conversation, in time order.
- A conversation written without signing in on another device, with the same email, joins theirs once the code sent to that email is entered.
- A blocked Verified Contact stays blocked on every device.
The Not verified badge marks a Contact whose device gave a person’s user ID without entering the code sent to their email. Their name and email are not proven: they stay on this Contact and never change the person’s. Once the code is entered, their messages join the Verified Contact’s conversation. The badges cannot be given by hand: read the article “Verify your Contacts’ identity”.
When the person signs out of your site, the chat starts over with a new Anonymous Contact on that device. A Verified Contact with no saved email cannot get a code: each of their other devices keeps its own conversation.
