Pick the chat’s language
The chat speaks French or English: it follows the Contact’s device, or the language you pick.

The samples show app_your_app_key. Open this guide from App settings > Developers > Getting started to see your App’s key in them.
The chat comes in French and English. Without a setting, it takes the language of the Contact’s browser or phone when it is one of the two. Otherwise, it takes the App’s default language, picked in App settings > Appearance.
If your site or app has its own language, pass locale, "fr" or "en", so the chat follows it.
<script> window.zean = { appKey: "app_your_app_key", locale: "en" };</script><script async src="https://widget.zean.chat/loader.js"></script>Good to know
- On the web, the chat loads once per page: a language changed later applies on the next page load.
- With React Native, changing
localerestarts the chat in the new language, without losing the Conversation. - The header text, welcome message and away message are written in both languages in App settings. When a version is missing, the Contact sees the default language’s.
